Now is the time
Getting towards the end of the year is generally the time to kick back and recharge to come back fighting in the new year.
That may be all good and well for the soul, but for business it may not be the greatest strategy.
What is better is to have your customers come back to a fresh site promoting your products and services. While your customers have recharged their souls and are coming back fighting you have prepared a fresh platform to remind, educate and inform them of what it is that you do. Continue reading
The Crossroads
For everybody who sees the benefit of, and wants a website there are so many options. The moment you speak to somebody the more confusing it gets. This person knows a person who knows a person and so it goes. Eventually you will have to make a decision, but what are you going to choose? How do you know where to look and what is reasonable when it comes to the price and features and functionality and search engine optimisation and content management and… and… Continue reading
Pay for website development? Are you crazy, I only pay for results.
An interesting question came to light recently. When purchasing a website should you pay for the site development or for the benefit it brings? Any developer worth their salt will promise to deliver what you need, but few are willing to commit to a guarantee. Would you be willing to pay for information on a monthly basis?
Similarly when puchasing advertising, all the statistics are there, but no guarantee from the publication. Would you be willing to pay for such a website ‘guaranteed return’ service and what would that be worth? What percentage of your business is worth giving in return for a website that really delivers the results and what and how would you measure the success? Continue reading
Using email to market your website
Email remains one of the easiest and cost effective ways to communicate with existing and potential customers. There are several options to consider to either attract new or maintain existing customers. Website marketing is not only about what happens on your website but also in the message you and your staff are sending.
When talking to existing customers it is important that they see a consistent presentation of the brand in the layout and content of the email sent.
It goes without saying that managing the brand is going to prove critical for long term marketing success.
What makes it easier is that email messages can be managed centrally and the email format controlled from a central point. Continue reading
Preparing your website for launch
When you finally go live with your website the search engines will look at you with fresh eyes. It is interesting to see what information is collected and what is displayed in the search results.
While it is exciting to go live, it can also be disappointing if you get ranked a lot lower than you hoped. You can of course make changes, but Google then has to re index the site and that can take time.
Tips before launch
The home page
Planning the website flow
Most websites really focus on putting the company information and products into the website. Few consider the flow in getting the customer from the home page to the point of action.
Questions to consider when putting it all together
Making money on the Internet – The classified website business
The web is awash with opportunities when it comes to opening and managing business ideas. The traditional bricks and mortar barriers don’t exist and technology has arrived with products available off the shelf to get you up and running in a matter of hours.

Getting to the top of Google – Quick Tips
A few points to consider when getting to the top of Google.
Website Domain Name
Finding a domain with one of your main keywords available is a winner. Most companies want a domain with the company name in, that is great, but also consider your aim on search engines, you want to get to the top. The domain alone gets you several steps above the competition.
Websites can cost an arm and a leg
There are several options to creating a website that requires little or no money. You can set up a blog on wordpress.com or blogger.com, set up a website using yola.com to name a few. If you want to get a bit more technical you can even go as far as using some open source solutions hosted on your own domain. It’s all possible.
The real question though is ‘what are you trying to achieve?’. You always get what you pay for. For reason’s I understand there is resistance to paying good money for a good website. The word FREE has been used so many times on the Internet that paying for something must start to sound rather odd.
