Using email to market your website
Email remains one of the easiest and cost effective ways to communicate with existing and potential customers. There are several options to consider to either attract new or maintain existing customers. Website marketing is not only about what happens on your website but also in the message you and your staff are sending.
When talking to existing customers it is important that they see a consistent presentation of the brand in the layout and content of the email sent.
It goes without saying that managing the brand is going to prove critical for long term marketing success.
What makes it easier is that email messages can be managed centrally and the email format controlled from a central point.Far too many companies allow staff to send out emails without checking to see what their email looks like when it arrives at the recipient. A task that is further complicated if staff operate remotely and don’t come into the office.
It doesn’t take long before the brand has been replicated in a dozen formats and customers who talk to more than one employee from the same company are exposed to Microsoft Outlook’s creative options.
In some instances staff may even go as far as determining their own designation within the organisation.
Almost overnight you have a company with a brand so diluted that you have to start from scratch to pull all the elements together in a new united front.
The ideal solution would have to:
- integrate into standard email programs, i.e. Microsoft Outlook etc
- be managed centrally
- allow for personalised contact and designation details
- allow these details to be managed (updated, new added etc) as and when required
- insert a disclaimer relevant to the company
- allow a header image, either a logo or promotional message
- allow the header image to be changed as and when required
- allow the header to click through to a page on the website
- make sure the staff could not access the details
- provide statistics on emails sent
- provide statistics on the number of time somebody clicked on the email header or other standard links
A tall order?
The ideal email solution does exist, you can have control over standard information that should appear in every email sent, manage the message in the header, ensure the logo is presented in the correct way, ensure the staff member’s designation is correct and several more features.
All this is possible without changing the way you communicate.
Add to this the added advantages of integrating links into your website statistics and all that can be measured and you have a solution that really adds value to your every day emails.
